  • Year 1/2 Trip

    Tue 27 Nov 2018
Children in Years 1 & 2 really enjoyed their day out relating to their Art and Science work on Tuesday 27th December. After a bracing walk to see and touch the Antony Gormley sculptures at Crosby Beach, it was on to the Walker Art Gallery to immerse ourselves in beautiful periodic sculptures. There was so much to see in the World Museum too, including all sorts of animals from fish and insects to birds and mammals - not to mention African masks relating to our multi-cultural work. What a great experience!
  • Remembrance service

    Thu 15 Nov 2018

Along with St Thomas' and St Greggs' we joined forces to remember those who gave their lives so we could have ours. It was a very moving church service. Many thanks to St Greggs for hosting.

The children took part in activities during the week to promote anti-bullying messages. The week started with a special assembly where children celebrated their differences by wearing odd socks!
  • First World War MADCOS Project 201

    Thu 08 Nov 2018 Mr D Barker

In honour of the Centenary of the First World War, MADCOS schools received funding to allow the children of Lydiate Primary school to take part in a variety of WWI themed events.

These included a Real Histories session for the Year 1 and 2 children on Tuesday 6th November, a visit to Crosby Library for the Year 5 and 6 children where they took part in research projects and a talk from Martin Jones, a local historian about the life a soldier from Lydiate and to show his medals.

There will be a performance by Quantum Theatre Productions on Monday 12th November and a Remembrance service at St Gregory's Catholic Church at 2pm on Thursday 15th November.

Please have a look at our wonderful activities below.

  • Cross Country

    Thu 08 Nov 2018

Erin Griffin made it a clean sweep for the second year running winning the final cross country race on the MADCOS calendar. She lead from start to finish and despite the muddy conditions, she was a comfortable winner. Ella Jones supported Erin and brought home the silver medal. Only Ella's second cross country race but she is learning the ropes very quickly. As usual all our runners were super. Year 4,5 and 6 were represented by the Daniels (x3), Annie and Chloe. Well done to everyone for their hard work and many thanks to our parents for your super support.

  • Year 1 & 2 Remembrance Workshop

    Tue 06 Nov 2018
Year 1 and 2 took part in a fantastic workshop based on World War I and honouring those who had died. The lovely Mrs Ashby from Real Histories brought this to life for us. Some children even dressed in character and all learned so much through drama and practical work.
  • Zulu Nation

    Wed 31 Oct 2018

The eagerly-awaited Mighty Zulu Nation group visited Lydiate Primary & Nursery School on Wednesday 31st October—and what a treat this was for all members of the school community! Children and adults alike were enthralled by their amazing African singing and dancing. They entertained us all day, involving children in workshops and putting on breath-taking shows. Everyone was truly astonished that five voices could carry so strongly across the whole school. Not to mention the resounding drum beats! There was a fantastic buzz of excitement throughout the whole day. I don't think anyone wanted them to leave and we are all hoping they are able to return next year.

PLEASE SEE 'GALLERY' FOR A VIDEO SHOWCASE OF THIS BRILLIANT EVENT!
