  • Hello Yellow Day in Poplar

    We celebrated Yellow Day in Poplar class. Here we are in our "Yellow Photo Booth". We recognise the importance of Wellbeing and all your kind donations have gone to Hello Yellow, supporting young minds and mental health. Thank you everyone. 
  • Acorn and Goldilocks and the three bears

    Acorn have spent the last few weeks focusing on familiar stories. One of our focus stories was 'Goldilocks and the three bears'. The children enjoyed joining in with the repeated refrains, sequencing the story and acting it out with props.

    The three bears left some porridge for us to try in class. We followed instructions to make porridge and even tasted it too. But we took our learning even further and explored how we could change the taste by adding different ingredients such as jam, syrup, fruit and even tomato ketchup.

  • New Member of Staff - Lola our Therapy Dog!

    After half term Lola the therapy dog will be joining Lydiate Primary School. She will be in Poplar class every Wednesday and is sure to bring lots of smiles to the classroom. After COVID19 we hope to share her with the rest of the children across the school. Please see the Year 3 /4 class page for more information about how Lola has been temperament assessed and to read our risk assessment. 
  • Willow Champion Movers and Improvers!

    Well done to Willow class who have put together sequences of movements to show daily routines and move to rhymes in our Friday P.E. lessons. The children in the photograph have been awarded medals for showing big, clear actions during our final session. Mrs Londesborough also awarded medals for children who have shown improvement, speed, enjoyment and competitiveness during Monday P.E. lessons. Well done to all!
  • Willow celebrates Black History month!

    As part of Black History month, Willow class have been learning about Garrett Morgan, a black inventor who invented traffic lights. We designed our own traffic lights in his honour! We also learned about Bob Marley and were amazed by some black athletes, including Daley Thompson, Usain Bolt and James Allen, the first black US gymnast to take part in the Olympics.

  • Cave Painting - Elm

    Elm class went subterranean today to create cave paintings.  As part of our Stone Age topic, we looked at the wonderful cave art found in Europe before going under our tables to draw on the paper stuck there.
