Clever girl....s and boys - Elm Art
Thu 26 Nov 2020Elm have done some fantastic art this term, all leading up to today. Having studied lines, shapes and fantastic prehistoric creatures we finally used our plans, hands and tools to sculpt fantastic 3D dinosaurs from clay.
Once we had made our basic shape we used tools to pattern our dinosaurs with different types of lines we had originally observed in our very first lesson in September. Fantasticsaurus!

Elm dump their brains
Mon 23 Nov 2020Elm took to the great outdoors today to do a braindump all over the playground. Using chalk, we drained out brains of everything we had learned about the 3 and 4 times table in the last few weeks and wrote it on the floor. This technique helps to improve recall of facts and shows the children just how much they've took in. -
A busy week in Acorn!
Fri 20 Nov 2020Acorn have had a busy but wonderful week of learning. Much of our learning has focused upon our Literacy story 'The little red hen'. We retold the story, wrote words related to the story and some of us even wrote our first sentence! Our wonderful TA taught us how to make our own bread. Keep up the super work Acorn. -
Rising to challenges in Willow class!
Wed 18 Nov 2020We have been really pushing ourselves in Willow class. Within the past week, we have written many words without help and some of us have even written complete sentences! We have created many different models, sorted and ordered, made cut-and-stick repeating patterns, and even made bread dough! What a busy time we are having! -
Wet PE 3D Shape Throwing - Elm
Wed 18 Nov 2020When the rain put a damper on our javelin lesson, Elm class honed their controlled throwing inside by using small balls of blu-tac onto a paper towel, which we halved when we got it 3 times in a row. When one clever child (or cheat, depending how you look at it!) turned their ball into a cuboid we noticed how much easier it became. Recalling our knowledge of 3D shapes, we then experimented with square-based prisms, cones, cylinders and cuboids comparing their faces and vertices, to find the perfect shape for this task! PE, Mathematics and Science, rainy days don't get much better than this. -
