  • World War One Memorial Service with St Gregory's and St Thomas' Primary schools

    Thu 14 Feb 2019 Mr D Barker

On Thursday 14th February, the Year 5 and 6 students of Lydiate Primary school, along with students from St Gregory's Catholic Primary and St Thomas' Church of England Primary took part in a memorial service for the end of the First World War.

It was the completion a project funded by the Heritage Lottery in which all three schools had been researching and working with local historians, taking part in a library visit to Crosby Civic Hall and watched a dramatic performance, all based around the experience of life in the trenches and actively participating in the centenary of the end of the First World War.

The Heritage Lottery, along with project lead Kath Coyle, helped organise a celebration of the project that took place at Lydiate Primary school. Ms Coyle along with her colleagues, revealed the Lydiate website, presented a video of the project, available on the website below and unveiled a memorial plaque, situated at the entrance of the school. The website is; https://www.ww1lydiate.org/

We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you and well done to all the Year 5 and 6 children and teachers who took part in the project. We look forward to beginning the next exciting project.

  • Purple Mash Day!

    Wed 13 Feb 2019
All of our pupils had a chance to experience our new ICT platform, Purple Mash. There was great excitement as pupils changed their avatars and set to work completing online tasks set by their teachers. Hopefully this excitement will spread, as they can resume and complete tasks at home. Happy Purple Mashing!
  • Safer Internet Day 2019

    Tue 05 Feb 2019
February 5th 2019 is Safer Internet Day. This yearly event sees schools and workplaces across the globe coming together to educate and share in the vision of connecting more safely online. Here at Lydiate, we held two assemblies to share this vision, and children then completed follow-up tasks about computer safety in school. Mrs Laycock & Mrs Londesborough are holding a competition to complete a poster containing an e-safety message at home. There are entry sheets available in school - and prizes for the best entries. Good luck, everyone!
