Inspire. Achieve. Prepare for life.

Our New School!

Our New School

A Very Exciting Future

We are delighted to be entering an exciting new chapter in our school’s history, with a brand-new, state-of-the-art school currently being built for our children.

This is much more than a new building. It represents a significant investment in the children and families we serve and in the future of our wider community. The new school will provide a modern, inspiring and purpose-designed environment where children can learn, play, develop and thrive.

Designed with Children at the Heart

The new school has been designed around the needs of today’s children and the way they learn best. Bright, welcoming classrooms and flexible learning spaces will create an environment that supports high-quality teaching and provides opportunities for children to collaborate, communicate, create and think independently. This will allow pupils and the whole community to build on the excellent skills in communication and oracy that they have developed and which led the school to achieve Voice 21 Oracy Centre of Excellence status from 2026.

The facilities will support a broad and ambitious curriculum, providing spaces that encourage creativity, technology, physical activity and wider learning experiences. The design also places a strong emphasis on wellbeing, accessibility, outdoor learning and connection with nature, ensuring that every child can participate fully and feel a genuine sense of belonging. A dedicated Forest School area has been allocated, where children can play, learn and thrive in nature; as well as undercover outdoor areas with wi-fi access which will allow them to learn and eat lunch in a fresh, natural setting.

The environment in which children learn can have a significant impact on their experience of school. Our new building will provide comfortable, purposeful and inspiring spaces where children can feel confident, curious and ready to learn.

Ambition and Academic Excellence

At the heart of our school is a commitment to academic excellence and high expectations for every child.

Every pupil deserves an exceptional education, regardless of their starting point or individual circumstances. Our ambitious curriculum provides children with a strong foundation of knowledge while developing their curiosity, creativity and independence as learners.

High-quality teaching will remain central to our approach. The new school will provide an outstanding environment in which teachers can deliver engaging and purposeful learning, while children are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, embrace challenge and take pride in their achievements. Brand-new technology will be installed in all classrooms, allowing children to learn flexibly, using ICT seamlessly when required.

Developing the Whole Child

A successful primary education is about more than academic achievement. We are committed to developing children who are confident, kind, resilient, respectful and thoughtful.

Pupils will be encouraged to develop the skills they need for life, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, independence and resilience. They will be given opportunities to discover their strengths, develop their interests and understand the contribution they can make to their school and wider community, building on our Social Signature initiative.

Kindness, respect and friendship are important parts of school life. Every child should feel safe, valued and listened to, with positive relationships providing the foundations for learning and personal development. Our beautiful Blossom Room, valued by current pupils as a safe space to talk, regulate emotions and focus on wellbeing, will be re-created as an even more beautiful space in the new building.

The new school will further support this sense of community by providing spaces where children can learn together, collaborate, socialise, play and develop strong relationships with others.

At Lydiate Primary, we recognise that all children are different and all have different skills and aptitudes. A one-of-a-kind dance studio will help pupils make the most of the excellent dance and performing arts opportunities already offered within the current building. In the new building, stage lighting, a brand new stage and built-in audio-visual equipment will enhance children’s performing skills in line with their growing confidence as part of the Voice 21 Centre of Excellence. For children who enjoy participating in external sporting events, there will be two hard-floor pitches and extensive grounds for football, cricket, rugby and other sports.

A School at the Heart of the Community

Our new school is being created not only for today's pupils, but for generations of children and families to come.

We value strong partnerships between school and home and recognise the important role families play in children's education. We want parents and carers to feel welcomed, involved and connected to school life, with opportunities to celebrate children's achievements and share in their learning.

The new building provides an exciting opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the school and the wider community, creating a welcoming environment that reflects our values and our aspirations for the future. Areas for welcoming parents, carers and visitors, such as a large meeting room, have been carefully designed to encourage participation and collaboration.

Looking to the Future

The new school provides an exciting platform for the next stage of our development.

It will combine modern facilities, ambitious teaching and learning, strong pastoral support and a genuine sense of belonging to create an environment where children can flourish.

While the building itself is new, the focus remains firmly on what matters most: providing every child with the very best possible education and helping them to reach their full potential.

Our vision is for children to leave our school as confident and successful learners who are kind, resilient and ready for the next stage of their journey. The new school will help us to provide the environment, opportunities and experiences that make this possible.

A new school. A new chapter. A shared ambition for every child.
