Place Value Practise - Elm
Wed 04 Mar 2020In preparation for assessment week Elm have been recapping our place value, as well as column addition and subtraction. After smashing our 3 digit addition earlier in the week, we used base 10 to practically demonstrate and practise how we exchange and regroup our tens and ones in column subtraction. We used a poem to remember the important rules:

More on the floor? Go next door and exchange 10 more!
Numbers the same? Zero is the game!Using a guided exercise on the board, we beat all of the calculation challenges showing our brilliant knowledge. Next, we will apply our knowledge to conquer 3 digit column subtraction.

After this we predicted which muscles we would use when we ran, spent our whole break running and then felt which of our muscles ached to see if our prediction came true!
