Wet PE 3D Shape Throwing - Elm
When the rain put a damper on our javelin lesson, Elm class honed their controlled throwing inside by using small balls of blu-tac onto a paper towel, which we halved when we got it 3 times in a row. When one clever child (or cheat, depending how you look at it!) turned their ball into a cuboid we noticed how much easier it became. Recalling our knowledge of 3D shapes, we then experimented with square-based prisms, cones, cylinders and cuboids comparing their faces and vertices, to find the perfect shape for this task! PE, Mathematics and Science, rainy days don't get much better than this.
