Parents' Information

Please find below important policies and documents.

Welcome to the Parents Information section of our website.  We hope that you will find all of the information that you need. Our aim is to keep you informed and up-to-date with what is going on at Lydiate Primary and Nursery School. Please click on the headings to the right to find more information about specific areas of school life.

Our current school priorities are improving the quality of children's writing and improving the childrens skills in problem solving and reasoning in mathematics in KS1 and KS2.

New parents can find more information about our school and the admissions process under the 'Contact Us' area.

At Lydiate Primary School we strive to have the highest standards of teaching and learning for your children. You will also find a handout that might help you with your child's reading - it is a must-read document for anyone who wants to encourage their child to read.

A further document that you may find helpful is the document referring to the Prevent Strategy, which has been much in the news recently. This paper will help you see how we are supporting you in helping your child enjoy British society and British values.

In our school, we have a range of reading scemes, which are book-banded to allow children to experience a wide-range of texts. Our main scheme is Oxford Reading Tree, which is then supplemented by ProjectX books amongst others. For phonics, we use the DFE's sponsored prograsmme 'Letters and Sounds' supplemented by resources from Hamilton Trust and Twinkl.

2016 was the first sitting of the revamped Year 2 tests - below you will find a presentation we gave to parents to explain them; they are daunting, but we are determined to support all of our children to achieve the very best they can.

If you wish to see how our school fared in the school league tables please copy the address below  http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/performance/index.htmland and paste it into your browser. Alternatively you can copy and paste the following website address:

The last document in the list is a guide for parents on the new OfSTED inspections - Lydiate Primary School are due any time after March 2017.

We are always available to show new parents around our school and Holly nursery.

We look forward to meeting you soon,

Kind regards

Mrs Forshaw

New Headteacher since September 2017.
