At Lydiate Primary School we use Lancashire planning documents to enable teachers to carefully plan lessons using a mathematics mastery approach. This ensures children develop a deep, long term, secure and adaptable understanding of maths. This approach allows all pupils to benefit from deepening their conceptual understanding, regardless of whether they have previously struggled or excelled. We use the mastery approach of concrete, pictorial, abstract to help pupils to explore and demonstrate mathematical ideas, enrich their learning experience and deepen understanding. Fluency, reasoning and problem solving takes place throughout every mathematics lesson.
